Statistics of heavy truck sales in July

   According to relevant data, in July 2024, China's heavy truck market sold approximately 59,000 units (wholesale, including exports and new energy vehicles), marking a 17% decrease compared to June and a 4% decrease compared to the same period last year when 61,300 units were sold. This decline amounted to a reduction of about 2,000 units. Both month-on-month and year-on-year comparisons showed declines, making July a bleak month for the heavy truck market.

From January to July, sales of various types of heavy trucks in China totaled about 563,500 units, up 2% from the same period last year, with a net increase of nearly 14,000 vehicles. The cumulative growth rate further narrowed compared with January to June.

  In July, although the overall sales of heavy trucks showed some weakness, some companies within the top ten in the industry achieved growth against the trend.

 Specifically, among the top ten, three companies achieved sales exceeding ten thousand units. Among them, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (Sinotruk) led the industry with sales of 16,000 units. FAW and Shaanxi Auto also achieved sales exceeding 10000 units, with sales of 12,000 units and 10,000 units respectively. It is worth noting that three companies achieved growth against the trend. Among them, FAW saw a year-on-year increase of 43%, Dongfeng saw a 4% year-on-year increase, and XCMG saw a 25% year-on-year increase.

  From an accumulated perspective, five companies have also achieved year-on-year growth. These companies are China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (Sinotruk), FAW, Dongfeng, XCMG, and Beiben.Specifically, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (Sinotruk) led the industry in July with sales of approximately 16,000 heavy trucks, holding a significant lead. Its cumulative sales from January to July reached about 155,400 units, marking a 4% year-on-year increase. Its market share rose to 27.6%, up by 0.3%.

  FAW  ranked second, selling approximately 12,000 heavy trucks in July, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 43%. From January to July, FAW accumulated sales of approximately 118,100 heavy trucks, an 8% year-on-year increase. Its market share reached about 21%, up by 1% compared to the same period last year.

 Dongfeng Group (including Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, and Dongfeng Special Vehicle) ranked third, selling approximately 8,500 heavy trucks of various types in July, marking a 4% year-on-year increase against the trend. From January to July, Dongfeng Group accumulated sales of approximately 92,500 heavy trucks, a 6% year-on-year increase. Its market share stood at about 16.4%, maintaining its position in the top three within the industry and increasing its market share by 0.6%.

Shaanxi Auto Group (including Shaanxi Heavy Duty Truck and Shaanxi Commercial Vehicle) ranked fourth, selling approximately 10,000 heavy trucks in July. From January to July, Shaanxi Auto Group sold approximately 90,500 heavy trucks of various types, a 2% year-on-year increase. Its market share was 16.1%.

Foton Motor (including Foton Daimler Automotive) ranked fifth, selling approximately 5,000 heavy trucks in July. From January to July this year, Foton Motor accumulated sales of approximately 43,200 heavy trucks, holding a market share of about 7.7%.
